Selamat datang!  Welcome to North Sumatra, Medan.

After your arrival at the international airport, you will be picked up by our driver and taken to the airport hotel in Medan.

Your accomodation:

After breakfast you will be picked up by your driver and headed towards Tangkahan at Gunung Leuser National Park. On the way visit the Maimum Palace which was built in 1888 for the Sultan of Deli. Then it goes to the “Mesjid Raya”, a large mosque that was built at the same time, before going to the Chinese temple “Vihara Gunung Timur”. Then a four-hour drive through the beautiful nature of North Sumatra towards Tangkahan in the Gunung Leuser National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Tangkahan was formerly known for illegal logging and hunting. Park rangers have been patrolling the area around Tangkahan with elephants to protect the jungle since 2001. From Tangkahan you can explore the jungle on a first hike.

After breakfast you can wash and bathe the elephants of the park rangers together with the mahout (elephant handler) in the nearby river. Afterwards, a jeep takes about 3 hours towards Bukit Lawang, on the other side of the national park, which is known for its orangutan rehabilitation programs.

In the morning you will be woken up by the beautiful background noise of the jungle. After breakfast at your camp, continue on a 4-hour hike through the jungle. Your jungle trek ends at a river, on which you will cruise back to your lodge in Bukit Lawang in around 20 minutes on a tire. In the afternoon you can relax in your lodge or cool off in the river.

After breakfast it is time to say goodbye to the jungle and your journey continues to Berastagi in the Karo highlands. The drive to Berastagi takes around 5 hours through villages and along the breathtaking nature of Sumatra with a view of the two volcanoes Sibayak and Sinabung. Berastagi is located at around 1300 meters and therefore has a much cooler climate than the Gunung Leuser National Park. En-route stop at Church Mary Annai Velangkanni illustrating Indo-Mogul architecture brough from Tamil Nadu, India. Also stop at Lumbini Park to see Buddhist temple, a replica of Shwedagon Pagoda in Myanmar. Before arriving at hotel visit  local fruit market Berastagi.

Today after breakfast you will go to the Sibayak volcano with your guide. The climb to the Sibayak volcano (2172m) is relatively easy and only takes about an hour from the parking lot. On the way back, relax your muscles with a hot bath in the Raja Berneh hot springs. Afternoon drive to Medan with your driver. On the way they stop in Dokan, a traditional Batak Karo village with traditional Batak houses. Then visit the Sipiso Piso waterfall. In the afternoon you will reach Parapat, from where a 45-minute ferry takes you to the island of Samosir in the middle of Lake Danau.

Today you will explore the Samosir island with your private driver. Your first stop is Ambarita, the main Batak Toba village on Samosir, where the highest court was held on stone chairs and tables back then. You will then visit the former house of King Sidauruk in Simanindo village and watch a performance of the traditional gate-gate dance. Then it goes north to the hot sulfur springs in Panguruan. On the way back to your hotel, visit the ancient tomb of King Sidabutar.

After breakfast, your driver will take you to Silangit Airport for your flight to Yogyakarta via Medan.

Upon arrival at Yogyakarta International Airport, your driver will transfer you to your hotel.

Breakfast in the hotel. Then you have the whole day at your disposal. Relax by the hotel pool or explore the city center on your own, e.g. with a cycle rickshaw.

Yogyakarta is the capital of the “Special Region Yogyakarta” and served as the Indonesian capital from 1946 to 1948 during the Indonesian national revolution. Yogyakarta is the only city in Indonesia that is still (officially) ruled by a monarchy. Yogyakarta is considered to be an important center of classical Javanese art and culture such as ballet, batik textiles, theater, literature, music, poetry, silversmithing, visual arts and wayang puppetry. Yogyakarta is also known as the center of Indonesian education and is home to the largest and most prestigious universities in the country.

After breakfast and check out at the hotel, your driver will pick you up at the hotel for a short city tour. First, your driver will take you to the Beringharjo market. Haggle with the vendors for the best price, try exotic fruits or buy a nice batik cloth. Continue to Tamansari Water Castle.

Then it goes on to Kampung Tirtodipuran. Kampung Tirtodipuran is the center for batik, a traditional Indonesian textile dyeing process in which the pattern is covered with liquid wax, which keeps the original color of the fabric during the subsequent dyeing. Then Kota Gede, the capital of the Mataram Kingdom, beckons. Javanese, Hindu and Islamic architectural styles reflect the splendor of the former kingdom. Later this afternoon you’ll be driven to the Prambanan Temple complex. This Hindu temple city was built between the 8th and 10th centuries to honor Shiva and it complements the Buddhist temple city of Borobudur, some 40 kilometers away. Start by viewing Candi Shiva Mahadeva, the largest and finest of the temples of Prambanan.

This morning in the pre-dawn hours, you’ll head out with your driver to be at famed Borobudur at sunrise. Not only is the mist and lighting at dawn serene, it is also a special time to explore this ancient site before masses of tourists arrive later in the day. Borobudur predates Angkor Wat by 300 years and Notre Dame by 200 years. “Discovered” in 1815, it has been excavated and returned to its original glory.

Afterwards you’ll be driven to Kulonprogo for a countryside cycling about 1-1.5 hour. The guide takes you to the village and you’ll meet and greet with the farmers and hands on to their daily works in the field and stop at local home industries i.e. tempeh makers, weaving, and also the locals daily activity. Cycling will end by the lunch at local house with traditional dishes. Late afternoon you will go back to your hotel.

Breakfast in the hotel. After check-out, your driver will take you to the airport, from where your journey continues to the island of Sulawesi.

After your arrival in Makassar you will be picked up from the airport and taken to your hotel, where you can relax for the afternoon.

After breakfast, your driver will take you on an 8-9 hour drive towards Tana Toraja. On the way you have the opportunity to visit traditional “Bugis” villages. Halfway there you will have a local lunch in Pare Pare before arriving at your hotel in Toraja in the late afternoon.

After breakfast in your hotel, a full day exploring Tana Toraja. First you will visit Lemo to see rows of Tau Tau statues and the hanging graves. Later continue to discover the secrets of baby trees in Kambira. Onwards to Londa with its ancient tombs in which the deceased was not buried, but placed among the rocks. Lunch break in a local restaurant in Rantepao. Onwards to Kete Kesu with a stop in Karuaya to enjoy the beautiful and typical Toraja panorama, From here we will continue with a short walk to Kete Kesu, one of the oldest Toraja villages. Here you still find two rows of the original village houses, the traditional ancestral houses of the Toraja people, Tongkonan, as well as traditional rice barns with colorful woodcarvings.

After breakfast in your hotel, we will bring you to visit Timonbayo where we can enjoy the spectacular view of the megalith stones spread over the extensive rice fields. Then to a burial cave of Lokomata. From Lokomata, we continue our trip to Batutumonga where we will a have short trekking, enjoy the beautiful panorama and experience a moment of the unique Torajan life style. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Batutumonga. In the afternoon, we will visit Bori (the meghalith) then to Pallawa and Sa’dan Tubaranna, local Torajan villages known as the weaving center of Rantepao.

After breakfast, we drive back to Makassar. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant in Pare-Pare. Afterwards transfer directly to Hasanuddin Airport to catch the flight to Bali.

Upon arrival in Denpasar, you will be met by your driver at the airport and taken to your hotel in Jimbaran.

Breakfast in the hotel. Then you have the rest of the day at your leisure. Relax in your hotel or explore the fishing village of Jimbaran on your own.

Visit the traditional fish market early in the morning, book a sunset boat trip on site, or relax on the beach. Every evening tables are set up on the beach and you can enjoy delicious grilled fish right on the beach at sunset.

After breakfast, your guide will take you to the main sights in North Bali. First you will visit the Banyumala waterfalls. When you arrive at the waterfall, you can enjoy the beautiful nature or cool off in the fresh mountain water. Then continue to visit the village of Bedugul with the famous Pura Ulun Danu temple on the Beratan lake. Your next destination is the Jatiluwih rice terraces. This World Heritage Site is a kind of living museum that shows the traditional agriculture of Bali. With intelligent land use and traditional irrigation systems, the local farmers have created picture-perfect rice terraces on the steep slopes. Afternoon you will be driven back to you hotel.

Breakfast in the hotel. After breakfast and checkout, your driver will take you to Ubud. Visit Tegenungan Waterfall on the way. Then we go to the villages of “Mas” and “Celuk”, which are known for wood carving and silver jewelry. Then visit the Goa Gaja Temple, also known as the Cave Temple, and the Monkey Forrest in Ubud, where you can watch the cheeky monkeys playing in the trees. Take care of your valuables, the monkeys are very smart and know exactly how to open a backpack! Then your driver will take you to your hotel in Ubud. The rest of the day is at leisure.

In the morning you will be picked up at the hotel for a spiritual temple tour, which we offer together with a local institution that supports disadvantaged children. First you visit the Goa Gaja Temple which is also known as the Cave Temple. Then create a “canang”, a traditional offering, which you then bring to the temple to ask the gods for permission to enter the temple. We continue to the Tirta Empul water temple, where the Hindus “purify” themselves in the holy water. Then it’s back to our partner institution, where you will be served a traditional lunch and get to know the children of the institution.

After breakfast at the hotel, go to the Ayung River for white water rafting. An ideal combination of nature and adventure awaits you on this tour: The rubber dinghy takes you downriver through rapid rapids and quiet passages where you can enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful, tropical landscape. The drive takes you past green valleys, traditional villages, waterfalls and beautiful rice terraces. The white water rafting ends in Karangdalam, where you can enjoy a delicious buffet lunch with a breathtaking view.

After breakfast, your driver will take you to Denpasar airport for your flight to Labuan Bajo.

Upon arrival in Labuan Bajo, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel in Labuan Bajo. The rest of the day is at leisure.

After breakfast you will be picked up by our driver and you will go straight to the harbor in Labuan Bajo, where begin your 2-day boat adventure through the national park. First, you go to the islands of Bidadari and Kelor, where you can swim and snorkel on the beach or explore the island on a short hike. Then lunch on the boat and continue to Menjerite Island, one of the most beautiful snorkeling spots in the national park. Enjoy your dinner on board and spend the night on the sailing ship in front of the Flying Fox Island, where you can watch hundreds of bats at sunset.

After a sailor’s breakfast we go to the island of Rinca. With a guide from the national park, you will go in search of the famous Komodo dragons, which you can observe here in their natural environment. After the kite tour on Rinca you continue to Padar Island, where you will reach the most beautiful viewpoint above the national park after an easy hike. In the afternoon it goes back to Labuan Bajo with a stop at “Pink Beach”. Upon arrival at the port, your driver will take you to your hotel.
