Lake Kelimutu, A Perfect Place for Exploring the Extraordinary

Though Mt Kelimutu National Park is the smallest among six national parks between Bali and the Nusa Tenggara islands, it offers one of the most spectacular wonders that nature could offer. There are three lakes on the mountain sharing the same name, Kelimutu, which is mean ‘the boiling lake’. Each lake has its own colors and, based on the local myth; it is believed to be the resting place of departed souls.

The colors of the lakes are always unpredictable as to when and what color they will change into (could be blue, green, black, white, red, or blue). As part of Kelimutu National Park, Lake Kelimutu presents a highly aesthetic value and surreal experience. Kelimutu area is surrounded with forest containing rare floras and faunas. Pines, casuarinas, red wood and edelweiss are growing well in this side of Kelimutu Mountain, while in the other part of the mountain is dried land with highly unstable sand and soil. Local community believes that Kelimutu Mountain is sacred and donates fertility to the nature nearby.

Komodo National Park

Located in East Nusa Tenggara, Komodo National (declared as World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986) park is the home of the unique and rare Komodo Dragon. The most fascinating activity is exploring this 603 square km of land which includes three major islands, Komodo, Rinca and Padar. Witness the rare Komodo Dragon that will bring you an idea of prehistoric era of dinosaurs.

At least 2,500 komodos live in this beautiful landscape. Remarkable views of savannas, rain forests, white beaches, beautiful corals, and crystal clear blue water are so worthy to explore. In this area, you can also find horses, wild buffalo, deer, wild boar, snakes, monkeys, and various types of birds.

Has been claimed as one of the best diving site in the world, Komodo islands marine life owned 385 species of beautiful corals, mangrove forests, and seaweeds as a home for thousands of fish species, 70 types of sponges, 10 types of dolphins, 6 types of whales, green turtles and various types of sharks and stingrays.

Labuhan Bajo

On the westernmost tip of the Island of Flores, the town of Labuan Bajo offers a great series of adventure. Being famous as fisherman town, this city has surprisingly comprehensive tourist facilities.

The first most exciting activities to do is, of course, exploring the incredible Loh Liang national park at Rinca Island. The contour could be a little rough, but it is not a big a challenge for those who loves adventure journey. Do trekking at savanna and witness the real wildlife habitat of Komodon Dragon. At this area, your clients can see Komodo from very near distance (3-4 meters).

At this area, there is an island called Pulau Kalong (the Island of bats), a small island with huge hill, planted by the mangrove forest, and being the habitat of thousands bats.  Spend some time to enjoy sunset at this island while seeing thousands of bats flying below the golden sun shines.

There are a lot of diving center at this area. Don’t miss to try one! Labuan Bajo owns some great diving sites which offer beautiful under water life. Guided by professional diver, explore the coral reefs as well as many kinds of fishes! The crystal clear water allows those who doesn’t like  to dive to see the beauty of the underwater world from above!

To most travelers and to westerners who own many businesses here, the developing town is somehow favorable and even romantic. The view on wooden cottages with thatched roofs camouflaged by shrubberies and towering trees up in the sloping township, overlooking an idyllic harbor, make an evening conversation with traveling partners an unforgettable experience. For some adventurers, Labuan Bajo can be an ideal getaway.
